The Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards (GAF Awards), a platform that recognises individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of the accounting and finance sectors while recognising the accounting and finance professionals who promote standards and excellent stewardship in various sectors, has awarded Metropolitan Pensions Trust.
At the second Ghana Accountancy & Finance Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel on the 9th of November, 2018 on the theme “Celebrating Excellence and Promoting Standards in the Accountancy and Finance Sector” Metropolitan Pensions Trust won the “Outstanding Corporate Governance Award”.
Metropolitan Pensions Trust Ghana, an NPRA licensed corporate trustee company which offers Pension Fund Trustee and Administration services for both Employer Sponsored and Master Trust schemes in Tiers 2 and 3, is a subsidiary of MMI Holdings, the 3rd largest financial services company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Established in December 2010, it current board is chaired by Mrs Beatrice B. Ofei, an astute HR practitioner. Other members on the board include Mr. Charles Egan, a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with over 35 years practice, Mr. Livingstone Magorimbo, a seasoned Actuary with close to two decades working experience, Mr. Dumo Mbethe, the CEO of MMI Africa and Asia and Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, an experienced insurance practitioner, Metropolitan Pensions is keen on ensuring good corporate governance practices.
Metropolitan Pensions Trust’s board is ably supported by HR, Risk & Governance Committee chaired by Mrs. Beatrice B. Ofei, a Finance and Investment Committee chaired by Mr. Frank Adu, the CEO of Cal Bank, and an Audit and Actuarial Committee chaired by Mr. Dumo Mbethe, the CEO of MMI Africa and Asia.
The Occupational Pension and Provident Fund schemes administered by Metropolitan Pensions are also well managed by competent boards of Trustees that are well constituted with member-nominated members as well as independent members.
In recent times when the turmoil in the banking sector has put the spotlight on corporate governance, it is refreshing to identify a corporate trustee with sound corporate governance practice.
